Welcome to the White Mountain Clan #10
of the Bektash Hillbillies
The Hillbillies were started in the late 1960s at El Hasa Shrine in Ashland, Kentucky, by Noble Jim Harris. He decided a sideline degree was needed that devoted its time and resources to our Shrine Hospitals. He received permission from his Potentate to start The Grand and Glorious Order of the Hillbilly Degree. Calling on his experiences as a real Hillbilly, he wrote a ritual.
The Hillbilly Clan Club remains very popular. The annual Hillbilly Days in Pikeville, Kentucky, started by two Shriners, is the second largest event in the state. Today, it is the largest group within the Shrine, with more than 170 Shrines having charters. With almost fifty members we are one of the largest units at Bektash.
Our goal this year is to participate in a couple of parades dressed in our finest Hillbilly garb. We will have monthly meetings at different restaurants serving BBQ or medium priced cuisine in a variety of locations across New Hampshire. Two outdoor meetings are being planned where we will be inducting our new members. Anyone associated with Bektash and their Ladies are invited to come to our gatherings.
White Mountain Hillbilly Clan is the 10th oldest clan in the country. Membership is open to Nobles and their Ladies (wife, widow, and long-term committed relationship per Imperial By Laws).
While children aren't officially members, we hold a special Children's Degree as this is a family friendly group!
Lifetime Dues includes a membership card, hat, feather and a corncob pipe
